We hope you will enjoy reading the theory, the anecdotes, and all about the composers, singers and musicians. We started this database to make the Indian classical music available and understandable to everyone alike.
I had the good fortune of meeting some of the great singers and musicians and some legends including the ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan, the illustrious composers Sohail Rana and A.R. Rehman, and musicians like Chowrasia and Padit Shiv Kumar Sharma as well as the great table players Zakir Hussain and Tari.
Over the course of several years, I had the privilege to do some shows and learn from all these great masters as well as do some homework of my own as I play most of the instruments myself. I studied both the Western and Indian classical music on my own to understand the underlying patterns and have tried to make it very easy for all of you to understand music theory in general.
For example, if you play all the white notes starting from C, that is Bilaval That, or all the white notes from A it becomes Asavari. In fact, anyone can learn at least six out of the ten Thaats in about 30 seconds, but more on that later! Suggestions for Chilldren...
